The Case for Refusing to Change:
In this confrontation, Jared (Lucas Hedges) tells his father Marshall (Russell Crowe) that he will not change and forever remain gay. And if he wants to have any sort of relationship with his son, he must accept that and take accountability for his actions - including sending him to a conversion camp.
